Problems We Solve

We help small-scale farmers, especially those most at risk of being left behind in the remote villages of Abossi,  break free from the cycle of low productivity and poverty.

Transformation through practical solutions

We focus on practical solutions that transform farms, increase incomes, and strengthen communities. We support smallholder farmers in fragile rural contexts so they can:

✅ Produce and sell more
✅ Improve household nutrition with better diets
✅ Manage land and natural resources sustainably
✅ Earn more income and invest in their future
✅ Access new technologies and innovation
✅ Adapt to climate change and protect against drought
✅ Build resilience to economic shocks, conflict, and other crises
✅ Diversification of rural farm incomes to manage environmental and economic risks

Farmers here face tough realities:

❌ Low skills & knowledge — little access to modern farming training.
❌ Limited resources — few tools, inputs, or finances to invest.
❌ Low yields — local breeds and traditional grazing produce minimal milk.
❌ Climate risks — drought and erratic weather reduce feed and water.
❌ Animal diseases — reduce herd health and income.
❌ Poor market access — farmers struggle to sell at fair prices.
❌ Gender inequality — women often excluded from farm decisions.

The Challenges

How We Create Change

Our interventions are practical, targeted, community driven and proven to work:

Hands-on training: Practical Dairy Training for 350+ farmers, backed by on-farm follow-ups, field days, excursions, and farmer-to-farmer learning.
Boosting productivity & incomes: Better crop and fodder management, mechanization, feeding, animal health care, and management techniques raise milk yields and increase household earnings.
Improving livestock genetics: Introduction of Artificial Insemination (AI) for stronger, higher-producing herds.
Securing food & feed: Fodder planting, silage making, and drought reserves reduce the risk of seasonal feed shortages.
Sustainable farming: Regenerative practices, manure management, and water conservation reduce costs while protecting the environment.
Diversifying livelihoods: Creating opportunities along the dairy value chain feed production, input supply, milk marketing so farmers are less vulnerable to market shocks.
Promoting equality: Empowering women farmers to participate equally in farm and household decision-making.

Why This Matters

In Kenya, over 80% of the population depends on farming, yet many remain trapped in a cycle of low yields and poverty. In Narok County, the reality is stark: average milk production stands at just 1.9 litres per cow per day far below the achievable 10 litres.

The causes are complex: limited knowledge, scarce resources, weak market access, poor breeds, and the devastating impacts of climate change. But the result is simple: perpetual poverty and lost potential for thousands of rural families.

Without action, these farmers will remain on the margins, unable to secure food, improve their incomes, or contribute fully to Kenya’s agricultural growth.
